Waikato & Bay of Plenty Community Day
Richard Rohr - ‘Falling in love with the divine presence’
Join us for this NZCCM community day in Rotorua, as we look at the life and spiritual inspiration of Richard Rohr. All are welcome to join us – both experienced meditators and those unfamiliar with the benefits of this daily practice.
Fr Richard Rohr
Facilitator, Lesley Cotterill will introduce us toRohr - an American Franciscan priest and writer on spirituality based at The Centre for Action and Contemplation, Albuquerque, New Mexico which he founded in 1989.
Lesley says: “Richard follows the Franciscan tradition with a focus on lifestyle and practice - i.e. how we live our lives and how we behave rather than how many times we attend formal church and which religion we follow - my interpretation!”
We will look together at Richard’s philosophy and provide opportunity for discussion.
Facilitator: Lesley Cotterill
Lesley Cotteril
Lesley began meditating in 2017 while seeking a quieter, more contemplative way forward after feeling theologically adrift. That same year she attended a WCCM retreat at Waikato University where Sarah Bachelard of the Benedictus Contemplative Church was speaking. The experience proved life-changing.
Inspired to share meditation in her own community, Lesley returned home to Taupō and — after attending an Essential Teaching Workshop with Fr Murray — established a weekly meditation group at St Andrew’s Anglican Church. The group has met since 2017 and since Covid, includes participants joining online via Zoom.
