NZCCM Weekend Retreat - St John of the Cross

Beyond the Noise

The retreat is an introduction to the Catholic Saint and Mystic, St John of the Cross. Retreatants will explore important themes around prayer, the experience of growing in union with God, and the journey of transformation drawn from St John’s two most notable books, The Ascent and The Dark Night. For St John the pilgrimage is up the mountain, walking in silence and darkness, going ever deeper beyond the senses.

Retreat Leader - Fr Frank Bird

Fr Frank Bird is a Catholic Priest and a member of the Society of Mary (Marist). He was ordained in 2000 and worked in the Diocese of Auckland. From 2013 he worked on the Thailand-Myanmar border at the Marist Mission in Ranong with Myanmar migrant families.

In 2024, he studied St John of the Cross and St Teresa of Avila at the Carmelite Teresianum University in Rome. Frank is currently completing the Spiritual Growth Ministries Spiritual Directors Training Program and enjoys providing retreats and reflection experiences. Frank works from the Whanau Maria Centre, Ponsonby, Auckland.

Retreat Details

• Early bird cost is $339.00. Early bird ends June 30th after that the cost is $350.00. Registrations close July 10th.

• If you wish to apply for financial assistance to attend, please email retreat@christianmeditationnz.org.nz before June 30th and explain why you need support.

• Cancellation policy: a full refund will be given up to June 30th

• When registering you will have the opportunity to make a contribution to assist another person to attend.

• The retreat starts Friday at 7pm, 18th July, with registrations from 6.00pm.

• No evening meal is provided on Friday but you can BYO and use the microwave.

• The retreat ends at 3.00pm on Sunday 20th July.

• The Pleroma Bookstore will be open.

• Upon receiving your registration further information will be emailed to you.

• Places are limited so please book early.

There are several ways you can pay into NZCCM's Kiwibank account 38-9003- 0812910-01.
Account Name is NZCCM Seminar

1. By paying online or by phone into NZCCM’s account.

2. By asking your bank teller to assist you to transfer the funds to the account.

3. By depositing cash into NZCCM’s account at any Kiwibank branch.

4. By giving cash to a trusted friend with internet banking who can put the funds into NZCCM’s account.

5. Please add your name and 'July retreat' in the reference section for the above options
